QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Failure of Newport HT50 ventilator.

Dear Friend,
Please provide any information available to you, regarding failure of Newport HT50 ventilator. I heard of several incident reports, which, when inquiring about, I come against a wall of silence and secrecy.
I am scared using this ventilator, and no one is providing information, which sounds credible. It is only the users, which by passing information to each other, can discover and disclose the risks associated with their equipment, and save lives of their friends.
The industry sales people have their turf to protect and it at the expense of us users.

Hi, Liana: Thank you for your message about the Newport ventilator. I have called the company and am waiting to hear from them. Neither Joan nor I had heard any of those reports.
Best regards,

Dear Liana: Today I spoke with R. D. at Newport NMI. He said that there were complaints that the HT50 was noisy and that in some countries (China, Britain) it was not being used correctly, but denied that it failed. We have not heard any reports in the U.S. that it has failed. Could you be more specific and tell us what exactly happened when it failed?
Grazie.

Dear Liana: I attended a respiratory conference in St. Louis last week and spoke with a representative of Newport Medical about the HT50. She said that there could be a problem if the circuit/tubing was changed and the exhalation valve was not readjusted.Have you heard any more complaints about the equipment. Do you know anyone who uses it who could write an article for IVUN News? The best thing about it is the internal battery life of 10 hours.
